Stitching Into the Season

This past month has felt like one big creative experiment — equal parts magic and mayhem. I’ve been spending more and more time in my sewing room, learning new techniques, testing fabrics, and discovering what I actually love to make.

And here’s the truth:
I learned very quickly that velvet and I are not friends.
At least not yet.

My attempt at sewing velvet was… a disaster. Slipping, sliding, stretching, cursing — all of it. But even in the frustration, I found myself laughing, because this whole sewing journey is reminding me that learning something new is supposed to look messy. Growth literally happens in the scraps on the floor.

But then came the quilted jacket — and that one lit me up.
Piecing it together, watching it take shape, seeing the structure come to life… I LOVED every second of it. It reminded me why I wanted to start sewing in the first place: the joy of creating something from nothing, something that feels uniquely mine.

Now I’m deep into my next project:
a beautiful satin dress, inspired by soft movement, structure, and elegance.
Satin is challenging in its own way, but I’m already obsessed with the process — the drape, the precision, the way it catches light. There’s something so feminine and graceful about this silhouette (sharing the sketch above!), and I can’t wait to see it come to life in real fabric.

And I’ll be honest… I owe you a full post.
Between learning to sew and squeezing in some travel, I’ve collected so many moments, projects, and ideas that I can’t wait to share over the next few weeks. It feels like the creative floodgates opened, and now I finally get to bring you along with me.

As we move into November and shift our focus toward Thanksgiving and the start of the winter season, I’m carrying this momentum with me. I’m leaning into textures, layers, and the kinds of pieces that feel special — whether they’re handmade or thoughtfully chosen.

There’s so much coming: winter essentials, styling inspiration, cozy edits, and of course… more of my sewing journey — velvet fails, quilted wins, satin dreams and all.

What I Learned This Month (aka: my sewing era is officially ON)

• I learned how to add pockets to a skirt
Because everything is instantly better with pockets — and now that I know how to sew them in, I want them on everypiece I make.

• I learned how to sew buttonholes
The step I was most intimidated by… and now I can do it! That moment when the machine actually makes the perfect little rectangle? Magic.

• I learned how to use interfacing — and why it’s essential
It’s the secret to structure, clean edges, and a truly professional finish. Once I realized how important it was, I started using it everywhere. Total game changer.

• I learned that I really can sew
Not perfectly. Not without mistakes. But I can do this. And the more I practice, the more I fall in love with the process.

Here’s to another month of creativity, cozy moments, and making beautiful things — one stitch at a time. 🤍✨
